This week for What’s New Wednesday, we are going big, bold, and beautiful! Fused glass artist Doretha Washington really dazzles the eye with this stunning screen melt piece, with beautiful swirls of red, yellow, green and more! $400 (stand included).
What is a screen melt? The beautiful effect of this piece is achieved through the act of melting various colors of scrap glass through a ceramic pot or metal screen, creating a disc swirled with organic patterns. The resulting piece can then be slumped into a beautiful bowl or vase, or simply left in a stand to display, as Doretha has done with this beauty.
