2016 has come and gone, so now it’s time to think about the future! Set your sights on a hot new year’s resolution: become a glass artist!
Third Degree is the only multifaceted glass art education center in the St. Louis area. In our amazing state-of-the-art studios, you can get hands-on and learn to create your own works of glass art! With small class sizes at an affordable price, you will be come an independent glass artist in no time at all!
The Path to Independence
Our Path to Independence (PTI) course is designed for you to go from novice to independent renter in no time at all! The PTI consists of four levels, each with its own advancing techniques. How do you know where to start? It’s very simple:
- Pick Your Studio:
–Glassblowing: Collect 2100° molten glass from a furnace, and use wood and stainless steel tools, plus the breath from your own lungs, to create gorgeous vessels!
–Flameworking: Pull up a chair and start making beautiful beads! Melt down glass rods through a torch and apply the molten glass to a steel rod to craft your own beads, pendants and even small sculptures.
–Fused Glass: Afraid of fire? Not a problem! In Fused Glass, you cut and layer cold glass sheets, plus other materials, to create unique patterns. Place your piece in the kiln and turn up the heat!
- Pick Your Classes:
-4 week Tuesday Night class, 6:00p-9:00p. $300
-Saturday Intensive, 9:00a-4:00p. Offered on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays of each month. $150Each 4-week class consists of one level, as does every two Saturday intensives.
After completing all four levels, you will be considered an Independent Renter, equipped with the skills and knowledge to rent time and produce artwork independently in our studios, like so many others throughout our 14 years in business! You may even find future opportunities to share your knowledge with new students!
