Every month as a part of our Third Friday open house, we welcome a new local 2D artist to showcase their work in our East Gallery. This month, our gallery is adorned with the beautiful photographs of artist Ann Aurbach. Read more about her show below.
About the show:
“I’ve had a lifelong passion for capturing the temporary and making it permanent. My photographic subjects have ranged from the architectural (past and present) to animals to event and everything in between.
“Botanical Abstracts is a collection born from my passion for macro and close-up photography. I delight in taking photos of things that aren’t fully appreciated on the first glance or even the second. Each of these images encourages a closer look and appreciation of the patterns found in nature and things seen when looked at very close up.”
About the artist:
Ann Aurbach is a St. Louis-based photographer who has a lifelong passion for the arts. By day, she works in theatre management but photography is where she can let her creative soul soar. In her free time, she explores St. Louis by turning off the GPS and getting lost on purpose, discovering and rediscovering her hometown – from the Arch to drops of water, and anything in between. Her work has been shown at galleries across St Louis including Art St. Louis, Foundry Arts Centre, St. Louis Artist Guild amongst many others. You can find the artist out and about exploring St. Louis with Photo Flood Saint Louis, neighborhood by neighborhood.
Botanical Abstractions will be on display at Third Degree through Wednesday, August 14. See more of Ann’s work on her website, or stop by to visit! We’re open Monday-Saturday 10:00a-5:00p & Sunday 11:00a-4:00p.
