The staff and artists at Third Degree are keeping busy! In addition to the pumpkin premiere this month and our anniversary next month at Third Fridays, we’ve got two new opportunities for everyone to experience and learn about glass!
Strange Folk Festival – Saturday, September 26 & Sunday, September 27
This annual makers’ festival draws tens of thousands of attendees every year, and features some of the best artists, crafters and artisans from all around the country! This year the booths will occupy the many empty storefronts inside historic Union Station!
Third Degree will be selling our selection of gorgeous glass pumpkins and ornaments, as well as featuring the artwork of some of our working artists! Also come by the Third Degree booth to check out one of our artists doing a flameworking demonstration, making glass beads live at the festival!
We are most of all very proud to sponsor the event this year, providing a dazzling installation of blown glass planets! Find the telescopes around the building and locate the planets! Keep a lookout for progress pics on Instagram!
Contemporary Art Museum’s Open Studios – Sunday, October 4
Get a first-hand look at the studios at Third Degree! Enter through our studio doors and watch our artists at work on flameworking and kilnworking projects, and see up-and-coming glassblowing students at work inside the Hotshop! You’ll get to meet our artists and learn about how you can become a glass artist!
Now in its tenth year, Open Studios STL features more than 170 St. Louis-based artists who open their studios and art spaces to the public over the course of one weekend. Studios and gallery spaces are open Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4, 2015, 10:00 am–5:00 pm, with locations east of Grand Blvd. open on Saturday and locations west of Grand Blvd. open on Sunday.
