Every month at Third Friday, Third Degree welcomes a local artist to show their work in our East Gallery. As a community minded business, Third Degree loves displaying and celebrating the diverse artistic talent that St. Louis has to offer. This month, we are showcasing “Built vs. Nature,” a photography exhibition by Julia Lopez. Julia shares her thoughts on the concept of her exhibition:
“My work is focused and revolved around abstract, architectural photography with an integration of nature as appropriate. In this show, I demonstrate the relationship between the built environment and nature. My artwork specifically seeks to bring viewers into the abstraction through color contrast, multiple exposures, and a painterly effect.
Additionally, the use of the Saint Louis City as the foundational basis for this interpretation is particularly intriguing due to the amount of history and decomposition which surrounds us. The artwork seeks to speak to the living and the forgotten environments.”
