CALL FOR ART: Showcase Your Artwork at Third Degree Glass Factory!
Third Degree Glass Factory (TDGF) seeks 2-D visual artists to exhibit in our East Gallery. TDGF is a locally-owned publicly accessible glass art studio, gallery and private event venue located at 5200 Delmar Blvd., between the Loop and Central West End. As a community of passionate artists, TDGF extends this opportunity for local non-glass artists and art groups to showcase their work in an environment with high foot traffic and numerous private events.
ABOUT THE GALLERY
The East Gallery consists of 6,000+ square footage of events space. The wall used to showcase art is located at the far end of the gallery, with its own spot lighting, giving prominence to the work regardless of whether the space is empty or occupied by an event setup. The dimensions of the wall are approximately 31’ long by 10’ high. TDGF uses a wire-and-hook hanging system for easy installation. While there are 18 hooks available, 10 large works or 15 medium sized works best fit the wall.
TDGF’s Third Friday Open House is a monthly event, free and open to the public. The event typically features glass art experiences, live glassmaking demonstrations, live music and fire dancing, food trucks and cash bar, in addition to the opening for the new display. Third Fridays are typically attended by 300-700+ guests each month.
IMPORTANT DATES
Each opening reception coincides with TDGF’s Third Friday open house.
2018 Opening Dates: 01/19, 02/16, 03/16, 04/20, 05/18, 06/15, 07/20, 08/17, 9/21, 10/19, 11/16, 12/21
Installation date is always the day prior, anytime from 10:00a-5:00p.*
Removal date is always the Wednesday prior to the following Third Friday, from 10:00a-5:00p.*
For example: If your opening is on 05/18, your install date would be 05/17, and removal would be 06/13, unless otherwise scheduled.
*Due to TDGF’s busy events schedule, install dates & times may be moved or adjusted to fit everyone’s availability.
COMMISSION
Third Degree takes 50% commission on any artwork sold. Third Degree processes all art sales.
RESTRICTIONS
All artwork submitted must be family friendly: no images containing violence, nudity, overt political messages or other controversial imagery. As a private event venue with over 160 events a year, TDGF reserves the right to refuse work not deemed appropriate for a general audience.
All artwork must be ready to hang. Hanging wire works best with our system. Proper framing and/or matting is required.
Artist must also provide his or her own artist tags, business cards and other promotional materials.
There is no restriction on creation date or price.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
-Individual artists, professional art groups and collaborations among artists are all welcome.
-TDGF requests a cohesive theme for artwork shown.
-Submissions must include:
— Artist Resume or CV
–Five examples of work or style (JPEG preferred)
–Email Address
–Phone Number
–Physical Address
–Any website or Social Media links: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
–Preferred opening dates
Submit the above requirements with the subject line “Third Friday 2D Artist” to Nick Dunne, promo@stlglass.com. Submissions lacking any of the above information will not be considered or receive a response. Deadline is the end of the day on October 31.
Submissions will be reviewed by a committee, and all complete submissions will receive an acceptance or rejection letter no later than Friday, November 17.
